Georgia and Sian Attend a Charity Ball for 2 Wish: Supporting Families through Loss

Published on June 16, 2023 by Blackstone

Last weekend, two of the team, Sian and Georgia happened to both attended a charity ball to support the charity 2 Wish.

In addition to dancing the night away, they also helped raise important funds for the charity.

2 Wish, founded in 2012, provides bereavement support to families who have lost a child or young adult. Originally supporting families in Wales, they are now expanding into England, widening their commitment to ensuring that grieving families receive the care they deserve. More information can be found at: 2wish Support for those affected by death in young people

When a family loses a child or young adult the effects are devastating for all who knew and loved them. Established in 2012, 2wish has been providing bereavement support to families throughout Wales who have lost a child or young adult aged 25 or under. The charity’s mission is to ensure that all those affected by the sudden and traumatic death of a young person receive the bereavement support they deserve.

In moments of grief, it is important families know that they are not alone and that the feelings they are experiencing are often normal. A key mission of 2 Wish is to improve communication between the family, hospital staff and members of the police force so families understand what is going to happen in the days and weeks following their loss.

In parallel with the service in Wales, this year they are excited to expand their services into England, offering immediate and longer term support. Initial expansion will be across the Welsh/English borders, before expanding strategically with a ‘ten-step plan’ across neighbouring police force boundaries until we are servicing the entire country. Starting with the border counties between Wales and England, which include Cheshire, Shropshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, and Somerset, the expansion will begin delivering in Summer 2023.
