A Brighter Vision: Partnering with Lions International’s ‘Recycle For Sight’

Published on April 21, 2023 by Blackstone

We are excited to announce our partnership with Lions International’s ‘Recycle For Sight’ program. At the heart of this initiative is the mission to give new life to old spectacles and make a difference in the lives of those in need. By collecting and recycling used eyewear, we can help improve the quality of life for children and adults in developing countries. Join us in our efforts to make a difference in the world – one pair of glasses at a time.

If you’re like most of our team, the chances are that many of you will have old spectacles lying around the house, forgotten in drawers or gathering dust on shelves. Instead of letting them go to waste, Lions International’s ‘Recycle For Sight’ program offers a meaningful way to repurpose them. The program collects used eyeglasses, which are then sorted, cleaned, and prepared for distribution to those in need.

We encourage you to take part in this life-changing initiative. If you have any old spectacles, please send them in or drop them off to us – and spread the word to your friends and family.

Some of the collected spectacles will be recycled to have a second use, as they may be broken or unsuitable for direct distribution. Meanwhile, others will go on to transform lives by providing corrected vision for the first time to individuals in developing countries. This enables them to read, attend school, find employment, and take care of their families.

The Impact of Your Donated Spectacles

When you donate your old glasses, you’re not just decluttering your home; you’re also playing a key role in the success of this worthwhile project. Your support directly contributes to the following:

  1. Improved Education: Many children in developing countries struggle to succeed in school due to poor vision. By providing them with corrected vision through donated spectacles, we can empower them to learn and reach their full potential.
  2. Economic Opportunities: Corrected vision enables adults to find employment and provide for their families, breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering self-sufficiency.
  3. Healthier Communities: With the ability to see clearly, individuals can better care for their families and contribute to the overall well-being of their communities.
  4. Global Sight Projects: Some of the collected spectacles are traded, and any donations received from this are used to fund sight projects worldwide. Your donation directly supports these initiatives, helping to improve eye health and prevent blindness.

Every pair of glasses can make a difference. Let’s work together to create a brighter vision for the future, one pair of spectacles at a time
